Bios for Potential Board Members

Randy Aleshevich

Randy is an elementary school administrator in Montgomery County Public Schools. His family including his wife Mary, daughter Miranda, and son Oliver have been members of York Manor Swim Club since 2018. His son Oliver has been a member of the Makos swim team since 2019 and swam in the 9-10 boys heats during this past season. Thanks to coach Gordon, Oliver is also a member of Loyola Blakefield Aquatics (LBA) and swims year round. You can usually see Randy poolside at swim meets as a timer, runner, or even an official this year! York Manor Swim Club has been wonderful for his family and now he hopes to give back as a member of the board.

Christa Chery-Hise

Hello, I am a retired BCPS teacher of 28 years with a passion for music, sports and recreation, as well as programs for youth. I think my skill set will lend itself to planning for engaging activities for our young people within the setting of York Manor pool. I hope to be of service to all members of the pool to help keep a safe and welcoming space.

Jeremy McDonough

My wife Casey and kids Ben and Norah and myself, have been members at York Manor Swim Club since 2019. Norah is on the swim team, go Makos, and we spend a lot of time at the pool. When I was a kid I belonged to Woodcroft Swim Club, which at the time, was member-owned and my Dad was the President for years. I believe that it’s always good to get a fresh perspective and that doing things the way they’ve always been done, while many times good, can sometimes lead to mediocrity. I own two local real estate brokerages in the Baltimore Metro Area and love being involved in the community. I coach my son’s Under 8 LTRC Soccer Team and enjoy golfing and exercising when I’m not parenting and working. Running a business is tough, the pool is a business and I believe I could be an asset in helping move it successfully into the future.

Katie McElwain (incumbent board member)

Hello, I am Katie McElwain and I’m running for the YMSC Board of Trustees for the second time. I am currently serving as the Secretary of the Board. I am responsible for the meeting agendas, recording the minutes and keeping track of scheduling the meetings. I also handle the insurance for the pool. You may recognize me from the front desk or signing your kids into Kids Night or helping organize the ribbons at swim meets. My family and I joined the pool over 13 years ago, and since then, summer has meant York Manor for us. My children, Connor, 18 and Maisie, 16, swam on the Makos swim team for many years.. During the rest of the year, I teach pre-kindergarten, working at Havenwood Preschool for the last 11 years. I have served on the PTA Boards at Lutherville Lab and Ridgely Middle School and I am the incoming membership chair of the Towson High School PTSA. We love York Manor and I would love the opportunity to continue to serve our pool community.
